Abstract:
New regulations for dental and maxillofacial radiology were introduced in Switzerland. The rules have to be followed immediately (date of entry was January, 1, 2018) without any transitional period. However, everything will be judged with a sense of proportion. The main item is a new regulation for continuing education which requires every dentist (and depending of the exact operational processes also his or her dental assistants) to participate in up to 6 hours of radiology-specific education every five years. Some other minor adjustments were also made. After all the rules for dental radiology become a little bit more complex. However, this is the (small) price to pay in order to achieve a proper level of radiation protection in daily dental practise.
