Abstract:
We report the first two cases of EGFR exon20ins SCLC, treated with amivantamab and TKIs.
Insights
We present two cases of small cell lung cancer (SCLC) with EGFR exon20 insertions. These patients were treated with amivantamab and tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs).
Area of Science:
- Oncology
- Genetics
- Pharmacology
Background:
- Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is an aggressive malignancy.
- Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutations are common in lung cancer.
- EGFR exon20 insertions are a specific subset of mutations often resistant to standard therapies.
Observation:
- Two cases of SCLC with confirmed EGFR exon20 insertions were identified.
- These patients received treatment targeting the specific EGFR mutation.
Findings:
- The study details the treatment of two SCLC patients with EGFR exon20 insertions.
- Treatment involved amivantamab, an EGFR-specific antibody, and tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs).
Implications:
- This report highlights the potential of targeted therapies for SCLC with EGFR exon20ins.
- Amivantamab and TKIs may offer new treatment avenues for this rare SCLC subtype.
- Further research is warranted to explore efficacy and expand treatment options.
