    Summary

    Early diagnosis of heterotopic bone formation (HBF) is possible with serial serum alkaline phosphatase (SAP) measurements and radionuclide bone imaging (RNBI). These methods detect HBF's early biochemical and vascular changes, preceding clinical symptoms.
