Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the central pathological mechanisms of EA in treating PE.
  • To explore how EA influences brain activity related to ejaculatory behavior.

Main Methods:

  • Male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into PE and control groups.
  • EA was applied to the Zusanli acupoint (ST-36) for 4 weeks.
  • Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), behavioral tests, and plasma norepinephrine levels were assessed.

Main Results:

  • EA treatment decreased ejaculation frequency and increased latency in PE rats.
  • Norepinephrine levels correlated with ejaculation parameters.
  • EA modulated fractional amplitude of low frequency fluctuation (fALFF) and regional homogeneity (ReHo) in specific brain regions.

  • EA at ST-36 may reduce ejaculation frequency and extend latency in PE rats.
  • These effects are likely mediated by EA's influence on brain activity.
  • Findings may inform new targeted therapies for PE.
