    Summary

Digitised intravenous angiography (Diva) now allows heart studies, providing reproducible measurements of cardiac indices. While generally correlating well with selective ventriculography, Diva slightly underestimates the end-systolic index.

    Area of Science:

    • Cardiovascular imaging
    • Radiology
    • Medical technology

    Context:

    • Digitised intravenous angiography (Diva) has advanced to enable cardiac imaging.
    • Previous applications focused on the aorta and great vessels.
    • Technical improvements allow for 25 frames per second recording.

    Purpose:

    • To evaluate the reproducibility and correlation of cardiac measurements using digitised intravenous angiography (Diva).
    • To assess the efficacy of Diva in cardiac studies compared to selective ventriculography.

    Summary:

    • 22 subjects underwent Diva and selective left ventriculography.
    • Measurements included end-diastolic index, end-systolic index, and ejection fraction.
    • Diva demonstrated reproducible results and strong correlation with selective ventriculography, with a slight underestimation of the end-systolic index.

    Impact:

    • Highlights the potential of advanced digitised angiography for cardiac assessment.
    • Suggests Diva is a reliable method for measuring cardiac function.
    • Identifies a minor limitation in end-systolic index measurement by Diva.
