Perinatal Environmental Risks for Eosinophilic Esophagitis: A Systemic Review and Meta-Analysis

- No significant association found with breastfeeding (RR 1.07, 95% CI: 1.00-1.15).
- Publication bias detected for antibiotic use and cesarean section.
Conclusions:
- A weak association exists between certain perinatal factors (antibiotic use, C-section, preterm birth, NICU admission) and an increased risk of EoE.
- These associations may be indirect rather than causal.
- Further research is warranted to elucidate the relationship between these perinatal factors and EoE development.
