Background:

Office-based procedures under local anesthesia are underutilized in pediatric urology, with limited existing literature.
Newborn circumcision is a notable exception to the general acceptance of such procedures.

Purpose of the Study:

To present the experience of office-based procedures performed under local anesthesia at a tertiary care center.
To evaluate the safety and efficacy of these outpatient procedures in pediatric patients.

Main Methods:

Retrospective study of 92 pediatric patients undergoing meatotomy or penile adhesion release.
Procedures performed in an outpatient clinic setting under local anesthesia by a single surgeon.
Data collected between January 2017 and August 2022.

Main Results:

65 patients had meatal stenosis, and 27 had penile adhesions.
High success rate with only four recurrences and one minor complication reported.
Average follow-up duration was 5.39 months.

Conclusions:

Office-based meatotomy and penile adhesion release under local anesthesia are a safe, simple, and effective treatment option.
This approach is particularly relevant given current healthcare financial and time constraints.
The study demonstrates a high success rate for these selective pediatric urological procedures.
