    Background:

    • Candidal leukoplakia is an oral condition associated with Candida fungal infections.
    • Langerhans cells (LC) are immune cells in oral epithelium involved in immune surveillance.
    • The precise interaction between Candida and LC in oral leukoplakia remains incompletely understood.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To determine the morphological relationships between Candida and Langerhans cells (LC) in oral leukoplakia.
    • To investigate the distribution and potential interactions of LC in response to Candida presence in oral mucosa.

    Main Methods:

    • Histochemical and immunohistochemical analysis of oral mucosa specimens from smokers with candidal leukoplakia.
    • Utilized ATPase and T6 antibodies to identify and localize Langerhans cells.
