Cardiovascular effects of Roflumilast during sepsis: Risks or benefits?

Phosphodiesterase-4 (PDE4) inhibition with roflumilast (RFM) protected septic rats from liver injury and improved kidney blood flow. However, RFM worsened cardiovascular dysfunction and did not improve survival in sepsis.

- Despite anti-inflammatory benefits, RFM worsened hemodynamic instability and did not protect against sepsis-induced cardiovascular dysfunction or mortality.
- Cautious application of RFM in sepsis is recommended due to its adverse effects on cardiovascular parameters.
