Summary

This study presents two methods for reconstructing the cemento-enamel junction (CEJ) before root coverage therapy (RCT) for non-carious cervical lesions (NCCLs). Both analog and digital techniques successfully restored tissue and improved gingival recession outcomes.

  • Both analog and digital CEJ reconstruction techniques resulted in complete root coverage and effective soft tissue healing at 6 months.
  • The analog technique's outcomes are operator-dependent, while digital methods are effective but costly.
  • CEJ reconstruction enhances multidisciplinary team communication and ensures precise gingival margin placement.

Implications:

  • CEJ reconstruction prior to RCT may improve treatment prognosis for non-carious cervical lesions.
  • Diagnostic wax-ups are crucial for creating accurate prosthetic guides for CEJ reconstruction.
  • These techniques facilitate optimal aesthetic results and precise gingival margin positioning in complex restorative cases.
