[Development of nursing education in Boliva]

The authors analyze the various stages in the evolution of nursing education in Bolivia. The article begins with 1938, when the first Nursing School was established in the country, and ends at the present time. It emphasizes the series of national and institutional events leading up to the current curricula for the professional nursing and nursing auxiliary programs, which give special attention to the training of personnel to serve under programs of primary health care with community participation.
