    Summary

    Poly(I,C)-LC showed potential in treating refractory multiple myeloma, with one partial response and three objective responses observed. The treatment induced interferon but also caused significant toxicities, including blood pressure changes and myelosuppression.

    Background:

    • Multiple myeloma is a hematologic malignancy characterized by uncontrolled plasma cell proliferation.
    • Refractory multiple myeloma presents a significant clinical challenge, necessitating novel therapeutic strategies.
    • Poly(I,C)-LC is an immunomodulatory agent with potential anti-cancer properties.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the efficacy and immunologic effects of poly(I,C)-LC in patients with refractory multiple myeloma.
    • To assess the safety and tolerability of poly(I,C)-LC in this patient population.
