This study shows that bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) gene expression in chick retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) changes dynamically during recovery from optical defocus and form-deprivation (FD). Recovery time and treatment duration are key factors influencing these BMP gene expression patterns.
