Tomography refers to imaging by sections. Computed tomography (CT) is a non-invasive imaging technique that uses computers to analyze several cross-sectional X-rays to reveal minute details about structures in the body.

Background:

Sinusoidal obstruction syndrome/veno-occlusive disease (SOS/VOD) is a serious complication often diagnosed using transabdominal ultrasonography.
Detecting hemodynamic changes is crucial for diagnosing SOS/VOD.

Purpose of the Study:

To evaluate the utility of four-dimensional computed tomography (4D-CT) in diagnosing SOS/VOD.
To assess hemodynamic changes associated with SOS/VOD using 4D-CT.

Main Methods:

A patient diagnosed with late-onset SOS/VOD was assessed using 4D-CT.
Portal vein contrast enhancement was analyzed every 1.5 seconds.
Three hemodynamic parameters were derived from contrast enhancement data.

Main Results:

The analyzed hemodynamic parameters correlated with the patient's clinical status.
The findings indicated blood stasis resulting from sinusoid constriction.

Conclusions:

4D-CT demonstrates potential as a valuable tool for diagnosing SOS/VOD.
This imaging modality may also assist in monitoring patients with SOS/VOD.
