Background:

Speech-language pathologists (SLPs) are susceptible to voice strain due to professional demands.
Young female SLPs in India face unique challenges impacting their vocal health.

Purpose of the Study:

To investigate the impact of service delivery on voice quality and voice-related quality of life in young female SLPs in India.
To identify specific changes in vocal parameters and perceived quality of life post-service delivery.

Main Methods:

A cohort of 44 female SLPs (aged 19-40) in Karnataka participated.
Comprehensive voice evaluations, including auditory-perceptual, aerodynamic, and acoustic analyses, were performed pre- and post-service delivery.
Voice-Related Quality of Life (V-RQOL) questionnaire assessed quality of life.

Main Results:

Auditory-perceptual analysis showed a shift towards mild dysphonia post-service.
Aerodynamic tests indicated reduced vocal efficiency (decreased maximum phonatory duration).
Acoustic analysis revealed significant negative changes in voice quality parameters (AVQI, CPPS, HNR, F0, jitter).

Conclusions:

Service delivery demands negatively impact the voice quality and efficiency of young female SLPs.
There is a critical need for voice care practices and mandatory training programs in healthcare institutions.
Addressing vocal health is crucial for professional satisfaction and mitigating voice disorder risks among SLPs.
