Abstract:
The sun floods our environment with a sea of electromagnetic radiation. The largest proportion of this spectrum that reaches the ground falls within the visible spectrum, which is termed 'light'. The light that reaches the earth is structured by the physical laws that determine how the visible spectrum interacts with surfaces, materials, and objects. In order to understand the different forms of optical structure generated in natural environments, we need to understand the physics that give rise to that structure.
