Summary

Background:

  • Hand rejuvenation is a sought-after cosmetic procedure.
  • Radiesse®, a calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) filler, is recognized for its safety and longevity.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To retrospectively evaluate the efficacy and safety of a specific Radiesse® formulation for hand rejuvenation.
  • To assess the outcomes of the injection technique used.

Main Methods:

  • 58 women received hand treatments using Radiesse® diluted with lidocaine.
  • A blunt cannula and fanning technique were employed over 1-4 sessions.
  • Follow-up extended up to five years, with evaluations using the Merz Hand Grading Scale (MHGS).

Main Results:

  • 94.8% of patients achieved immediate improvement after the first treatment.
  • 79% saw a final one-point improvement, and 21% a two-point improvement.
  • Three minor adverse events were reported, indicating a favorable safety profile.

Conclusions:

  • Radiesse® diluted with lidocaine is a safe and effective option for hand rejuvenation.
  • The blunt cannula technique is recommended for optimal results.
  • High patient satisfaction was observed, with a second treatment recommended for sustained outcomes.
