    Summary

    The Pickford-Nicholson anomaloscope revealed that yellow-blue and green-blue color vision ranges correlate with diffuse retinal nerve fiber loss in glaucoma patients. This finding may aid in early glaucoma detection and monitoring.

    Background:

    • Glaucoma is a progressive optic neuropathy characterized by retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) loss.
    • Color vision deficits are increasingly recognized as an early indicator of glaucoma.
    • The Pickford-Nicholson anomaloscope is a tool for assessing specific aspects of color vision.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the relationship between color vision assessed by the Pickford-Nicholson anomaloscope and RNFL thickness in normal subjects and glaucoma patients.
    • To determine if specific color vision parameters correlate with diffuse or localized RNFL loss.
