Summary

Eye-tracking augmented debriefing (ETAD) did not significantly improve resident metacognitive awareness compared to traditional debriefing (TD). However, ETAD reduced debriefer cognitive load and was perceived positively by residents for enhancing feedback specificity.

  • ETAD did not quantitatively improve resident metacognitive awareness or CL.
  • Qualitative findings suggest ETAD offers benefits in feedback and debriefer experience.

  • Further research with longitudinal designs is recommended.
