Background:

Novice nurses face challenges transitioning from academic learning to hospital practice due to a gap in theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
Existing Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs) help bridge this gap, but a specialized framework is needed for novice nurses' unique needs.

Purpose of the Study:

To develop a tailored Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs) framework specifically designed for novice nurses.
To support the successful integration and enhance the performance of novice nurses within hospital settings.

Main Methods:

A modified Delphi method was employed over a six-month period (October 2023 - March 2024).
The process involved team formation, identification of initial EPAs through literature reviews and focus groups, refinement using the EQual rubric, and two rounds of expert validation.
The second Delphi round focused on evaluating EPAs based on Focus, Observability, Realism, Generalizability, and Multiple competencies.

Main Results:

A final framework comprising 12 essential EPAs for novice nurses was established.
These EPAs cover critical areas including admission/discharge, basic care, medication administration, patient monitoring, emergency response, patient education, documentation, and equipment operation.

Conclusions:

The developed EPA framework effectively integrates theoretical knowledge with practical skills, aiming to improve novice nurse training and assessment.
Further research is recommended to evaluate the framework's implementation and refinement across various clinical environments for broader applicability.
