    Background:

    • Achondroplasia is a common form of dwarfism characterized by disproportionately short limbs.
    • Limb lengthening surgery aims to correct skeletal dysplasia and improve body proportions.

    Observation:

    • Three children with achondroplasia underwent bilateral simultaneous lower limb elongation.
    • Ten long bones were elongated using Wagner's distraction apparatus and a modified technique.

    Findings:

    • Maximal bone elongation ranged from 34% to 44% of original length.
    • The procedure resulted in relatively minor complications.
    • Limb lengthening improved trunk-to-lower-limb proportions in achondroplastic children.

    Implications:

    • This surgical approach offers a viable option for improving body proportion in achondroplasia.
    • Further research can explore long-term outcomes and refine surgical techniques.
    • Enhanced limb length can positively impact psychosocial well-being in children with dwarfism.
