    The expression of rat brain-specific polypeptide 1B236 (1B236) mRNA and protein occurs late in neuronal development, starting around postnatal day 5 and peaking at day 25. This timing suggests transcriptional regulation of 1B236 protein expression during development.

    Background:

    • Rat brain-specific polypeptide 1B236 (1B236) is a 100,000 Da glycoprotein found in discrete neuronal circuits.
    • Previous studies characterized 1B236 by molecular cloning and mRNA sequence determination.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To determine the temporal expression patterns of 1B236 mRNA and protein during rat brain development.
    • To investigate the regulatory mechanisms of 1B236 expression during neuronal development.
