Virtual and in-person care for type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) showed similar benefits during the COVID-19 pandemic. Remote consultations offer a safe and effective alternative for managing T2DM.

- To compare in-person (AP) versus virtual (AV) care modalities for T2DM during the COVID-19 pandemic.

- Prospective cohort study of 75 T2DM patients (mean age 49) from June 2020 to December 2021.
- 40 patients received virtual attention (VA) and 35 received in-person attention (AP).
- Statistical analysis included Chi-square, Mann-Whitney U, and Friedman tests.

- Both AP and VA groups showed reductions in HbA1c, triglycerides, and Non-HDL cholesterol.
- Quality of life and emotional exhaustion improved in both groups.
- Good quality of life and triglyceride control at two months predicted better HbA1c control.
Conclusions:
- Both in-person and virtual care modalities provide comparable benefits for T2DM management.
- Virtual consultation proved to be a safe and effective alternative during the pandemic.
