Recurrent facial nodules of angiolymphoid hyperplasia with eosinophilia resolved rapidly after treatment with hydroxypolyethoxydodecan. Systemic eosinophilia and elevated IgE levels persisted despite local lesion clearance.

    Area of Science:

    • Dermatology
    • Immunology
    • Pathology

    Background:

    • Angiolymphoid hyperplasia with eosinophilia (AHHE) is a rare vascular proliferation characterized by recurrent nodules.
    • Facial lesions are common in AHHE, often associated with systemic eosinophilia and elevated immunoglobulin E (IgE).

    Observation:

    • A 37-year-old male presented with recurrent facial nodules.
    • Clinical and histological examination confirmed the diagnosis of angiolymphoid hyperplasia with eosinophilia.

    Findings:

    • Intralesional infiltration of hydroxypolyethoxydodecan led to the prompt disappearance of the facial nodules.
    • Despite the resolution of cutaneous lesions, the patient's peripheral eosinophilia and elevated serum IgE levels remained unchanged.

    Implications:

    Related Experiment Videos

    • Hydroxypolyethoxydodecan demonstrates efficacy as a targeted treatment for localized angiolymphoid hyperplasia with eosinophilia.
    • The persistent systemic markers suggest that AHHE may involve complex immunologic pathways beyond the cutaneous manifestations.
