Background:

  • Financial toxicity (FT) is a growing concern for patients, defined as emotional distress linked to medical treatment expenses.
  • Limited research exists on FT within the context of upper extremity trauma.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the prevalence and associated factors of financial toxicity in patients who have undergone traumatic finger amputation.

  • A survey was administered to patients with traumatic finger amputation between October 2011 and January 2021.
  • Patient-reported financial distress was measured using the Comprehensive Score for Financial Toxicity (COST-11).
  • Linear regression analysis identified patient characteristics associated with FT.
