    Background:

    • Transient global amnesia (TGA) is a temporary memory disorder.
    • The etiology of TGA is often unclear, with various triggers proposed.
    • Head trauma is not typically considered a direct cause of TGA.

    Observation:

    • Nine patients (aged 11-28 years) experienced amnesic attacks after minor head injuries.
    • Attacks involved inability to form new memories (2-24 hours), extensive retrograde amnesia, repetitive questioning, and temporal disorientation.
    • Neurological examinations were otherwise normal during these episodes.

    Findings:

    • Mild head trauma can precipitate amnesic attacks in susceptible individuals.
    • The amnesic episodes exhibited characteristics consistent with transient global amnesia.
    • The clinical presentation suggests a previously unrecognized variant of traumatic migraine.

    Implications:

    • This study identifies a potential new trigger for transient global amnesia.
    • It suggests a possible association between mild head injury and specific migraine phenomena.
    • Further research is warranted to understand the pathophysiology of this condition and its relationship to migraine.
