Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement for Aortic Valve Stenosis Case Report

This case report details the interdisciplinary care provided to a 48-year-old male patient with severe aortic valve stenosis who underwent transcatheter aortic valve replacement in a community hospital setting. Focus is placed on the interdisciplinary team model demonstrated in the care of this patient, including interventional cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery from the outpatient to the inpatient setting. The use of decision-making tools, including the Society of Thoracic Surgeons Risk Calculator, and a collaborative, shared decision-making approach will be discussed. The care and evaluation of the patient will be presented and compared with the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association guidelines.
