Background:

  • Burkitt's lymphoma (BL) is an aggressive B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) characterized by rapid growth and frequent extranodal involvement.
  • Primary gastrointestinal lymphomas are rare, accounting for less than 2% of small intestinal malignancies.

Observation:

  • A 34-year-old male with sickle cell trait presented with significant abdominal pain, anorexia, nausea, vomiting, constipation, and weight loss.
  • Imaging revealed abdominopelvic ascites with an ileocecal mass and peritoneal thickening. Surgical resection and histopathology confirmed Burkitt's lymphoma involving the cecum, appendix, peritoneum, and omentum.
  • Bone marrow biopsy further confirmed widespread disease, leading to a diagnosis of Burkitt's lymphoma with multi-organ involvement.

Findings:

  • Histopathological examination of the resected mass confirmed Burkitt's lymphoma.
  • The tumor involved multiple organs, including the cecum, appendix, peritoneum, omentum, and bone marrow.
  • The patient's presentation and diagnostic workup highlighted the aggressive nature and widespread potential of BL.
