Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the efficacy and safety of repetitive transorbital alternating current stimulation (rtACS) in patients with moderate-to-advanced glaucoma.
  • To assess the impact of rtACS on vision-related quality of life (VR-QoL) and visual function compared to a sham-control group.

Main Methods:

  • A double-masked, randomized, sham-controlled clinical trial was conducted with 16 subjects.
  • Subjects with glaucoma (visual field mean deviation ≤-6.00 decibels) were randomized into rtACS (7 subjects) or sham (9 subjects) groups.
  • Ten rtACS sessions were administered over two weeks, with comprehensive ocular examinations at baseline, 1-week, and 4-weeks posttreatment.
