Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate a modified disc diffusion method for faster AST results.
  • To reduce the incubation time for disc diffusion from 16-24 hours to 6 hours.
  • To assess the accuracy and reliability of 6-hour incubation AST compared to the standard 24-hour method.

  • Collected 82 positive blood culture samples between January and April 2022.
  • Identified organisms using MALDI-ToF and performed disc diffusion AST.
