Background:

Effective nursing shift handover is crucial for patient safety and continuity of care.
Current handover methods can be prone to information loss and communication errors.
Mobile technology offers potential solutions for improving handover processes.

Purpose of the Study:

To develop and validate a mobile application prototype specifically designed for nursing shift handover in hospital inpatient settings.
To assess the usability and content validity of the developed mobile application.

Main Methods:

A methodological study employing the Design Thinking methodology for mobile application construction.
Involved prototype development and expert validation from April 2020 to January 2022.
Usability testing and content validity assessment by a panel of experts.

Main Results:

The mobile nursing shift handover application achieved a usability score of 79 points.
The application demonstrated a content validity coefficient of 0.7.
