Associations between serum sodium level ranges with geriatric syndromes

Higher normal serum sodium levels are linked to reduced risks of dependency and malnutrition in older adults. Borderline hypernatremia also shows lower prevalences of polypharmacy, dependency, frailty, and malnutrition compared to borderline hyponatremia.
