Omega-3 and Risk of atrial fibrillation: Vagally-mediated double-edged sword

Higher dietary intake of omega-3 fatty acids, including eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), is linked to a lower risk of atrial fibrillation (AF). However, pharmaceutical doses of omega-3s increase AF risk, potentially due to vagal tone effects.
