Laparoscopic resection for oesophageal duplication cyst: A case report

- Laparoscopic lower oesophagectomy and proximal gastrectomy with lymph node dissection were performed.
- Pathological examination confirmed a benign mucinous cyst lined with columnar epithelial cells within the muscularis propria of the OGJ.
- The cyst was diagnosed as a duplication cyst without evidence of malignancy.
Implications:
- The unclear demarcation of the cyst necessitated a more extensive surgical approach than simple cystectomy.
- Lower oesophagectomy and proximal gastrectomy with double-flap oesophagogastric anastomosis proved to be a selective and effective surgical strategy for this OGJ cyst duplication.
