    Summary

    Microencapsulated cisplatin (CDDP) offers sustained release and enhanced tumor concentration. This novel approach in arterial infusion reduces systemic side effects while potentially increasing antitumor activity for head and neck cancers.

    Background:

    • Cisplatin (CDDP) is a potent chemotherapy agent with significant systemic toxicity.
    • Developing targeted drug delivery systems for CDDP can improve therapeutic efficacy and reduce side effects.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the sustained release and biological activity of ethylcellulose-microencapsulated cisplatin (CDDP-mc).
    • To assess the clinical efficacy and safety of intra-arterial infusion of CDDP-mc in patients with head and neck cancers.
