Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the correlation between lipid profiles and angiographic characteristics in ACS patients.
  • To assess the relationship between lipid parameters and CAD severity, including vessel and segment involvement, using the SYNTAX score.

Main Methods:

  • One hundred first-time ACS patients undergoing coronary catheterization were analyzed.
  • Fasting lipid profiles were obtained and correlated with angiographic data, including vessel involvement and SYNTAX scores.

Main Results:

  • Total cholesterol, non-HDL cholesterol, and Apo B/A ratio positively correlated with the number of vessels involved (single, double, triple vessel disease).
  • Specific lipid parameters showed significant associations with the involvement of LAD, LCX, and RCA, as well as mid-segment lesions.
  • Apo A1 had an inverse correlation, while Apo B, Apo B/A, and TC/HDL had a positive correlation with SYNTAX score severity.

Conclusions:

  • A strong association exists between lipid parameters and CAD severity in ACS patients.
  • Elevated total cholesterol, non-HDL cholesterol, and Apo B/A ratio are indicators of more extensive coronary artery disease.
