[Superficial angiomyxoma in the scrotum]

Superficial angiomyxoma is a benign neoplasm of mesenchymal origin that affects both sexes with a slight predilection for males. It can present in a solitary or multiple form, within the framework of the Carney complex, an autosomal dominant syndrome characterized by the triad: cutaneous and cardiac myxomas, skin pigmentation and endocrine overactivity. They occur more commonly in the head and neck, trunk and lower limbs; the location in the genital region and particularly in the scrotum is very unusual. We report the case of a young patient who presented a nodular tumor in the right scrotum. Microscopic examination showed a proliferation made up of stromal cells immersed in a mucin-rich myxoid matrix with abundant thin-walled vessels and polymorphonuclear inflammatory infiltrate. Immunohistochemical techniques were positive for vimentin and CD34 in vascular structures; negative for pan-keratin, S-100 protein, desmin, smooth muscle actin, and estrogen and progesterone receptors. A superficial angiomyxoma of scrotal location was diagnosed.
