Precipitation and Co-precipitation

1.7K
Precipitation and coprecipitation methods can be used to separate a mixture of ions in a solution. In qualitative inorganic analysis, ions that form sparingly soluble precipitates with the same reagent are separated based on the differences in solubility products. For example, consider the separation of Cu(II) and Fe(II) ions by precipitation as insoluble sulfides. First, copper(II) sulfide is precipitated by the addition of acidic H2S, where the dissociation of H2S is suppressed. Adding H2S...

Area of Science:

  • Environmental Science
  • Water Resource Management
  • Spatial Analysis

Background:

  • Henan Province faces significant water scarcity and severe surface water pollution.
  • Maintaining surface water quality is critical for ecosystem health and human well-being.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To analyze the spatial patterns and sources of surface water pollution in Henan Province.
  • To provide data-driven insights for effective regional water pollution management.

Main Methods:

  • Collected extensive surface water quality monitoring data.
  • Applied spatial autocorrelation and random forest models to identify pollution hotspots and their drivers.

Main Results:

  • Surface water quality pollution exhibits a pattern: insignificant in the north, heavy in central regions (Zhengzhou, Luoyang, Kaifeng), and light in the south.
  • Key water quality indicators in polluted areas include chemical oxygen demand (CODMn), dissolved oxygen (DO), ammonia nitrogen (NH3-N), and total phosphorus (TP).
  • Urban sewage and industrial wastewater are identified as primary sources of water quality degradation.

Conclusions:

  • The study provides a scientific foundation for systematic surface water quality management in Henan Province.
  • Findings offer valuable references for regional water pollution control strategies.
