Neutrophils contain and activate Factor XIII-A (FXIII-A), a transglutaminase that stabilizes neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) by crosslinking fibrinogen. This finding reveals a novel role for neutrophils in thrombosis and NET structure formation.
