High rheumatoid factor (RF) titers in long-standing rheumatoid arthritis (RA) correlate with increased disease activity, poorer physical function, and more extra-articular manifestations. Evaluating high RF titers versus non-high RF titers offers greater clinical insight than a simple positive/negative distinction.
