Abstract:
Phobic individuals may be further frightened by the physical symptoms that are the body's response to fearful stimuli. Educating them about the physiology of the human nervous system can provide them with reassurance. This article describes the physiological bases of common physical responses to panic and explains how information about these responses can be used in phobia therapy.
