Summary

Researchers demonstrate that standard 120-keV transmission electron microscopes (TEMs) with a lanthanum hexaboride (LaB6) source can achieve high-resolution cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) using a direct electron detector (DED). This provides an affordable path to obtaining interpretable cryo-EM structures.
