Metachronous descending colon volvulus after sigmoidectomy: a case report

• Descending colon volvulus is an exceptionally rare complication post-sigmoidectomy.
• The patient underwent a left hemicolectomy and transverse stoma.
• Successful recovery was achieved postoperatively.

Implications:

• This case highlights the importance of considering descending colon volvulus in patients with prior sigmoidectomy presenting with obstructive symptoms.
