    Summary

    Urinary retention in women can be caused by bladder leiomyoma, a benign tumor. Surgical removal offers an excellent prognosis, making cystoscopy a recommended diagnostic tool for these symptoms.

    • Intramural leiomyomas can cause significant bladder outlet obstruction.

    • A case of urinary retention in a woman was attributed to a bladder leiomyoma.
    • The tumor's intramural location near the bladder base was identified as the cause of obstruction.

    Findings:

    • Surgical intervention is the primary treatment for bladder leiomyomas causing obstruction.
    • The prognosis following surgical treatment is generally excellent.

    Implications:

    • Cystoscopy is a valuable diagnostic procedure for women presenting with unexplained urinary retention.
    • Early diagnosis and surgical management of bladder leiomyomas can prevent complications and ensure favorable outcomes.
