    Background:

    • Juvenile plantar dermatosis (JPD) is a common pediatric skin condition.
    • Understanding its clinical presentation and histopathologic features is crucial for diagnosis and management.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To describe the clinical characteristics of JPD.
    • To investigate the histopathologic features of JPD.
    • To explore potential pathogenetic mechanisms, including the role of sweating.

    Main Methods:

    • Clinical data from 56 patients with JPD were analyzed.
    • Histopathologic examination of affected skin was performed.
    • Correlation between clinical and histopathologic findings was assessed.

    Main Results:

    • JPD most commonly affected the plantar toes and anterior sole.
    • Histopathology showed psoriasiform acanthosis, parakeratosis, and inflammation localized around sweat ducts and the acrosyringium.
    • Epidermal changes included vacuolization, spongiosis, and vesiculation, similar to other eczemas.
    • No seasonal variation was observed, and treatments/preventative measures were largely ineffective.
    • Evidence for disordered sweating as a primary cause was minimal.

    Conclusions:

    • JPD presents with characteristic clinical and histopathologic features resembling eczema.
    • The findings do not strongly support a primary role for disordered sweating in JPD pathogenesis.
    • Further research may elucidate the precise etiology and improve therapeutic strategies for JPD.
