Esophageal ultrasound with bronchoscope fine needle aspiration (EUS-B-FNA) is useful for lung cancer staging. A rare complication, esophageal hematoma, occurred, highlighting the need for increased awareness and vigilance during this procedure.
Area of Science:
- Interventional Pulmonology
- Gastroenterology
- Thoracic Oncology
Background:
- Esophageal ultrasound with bronchoscope fine needle aspiration (EUS-B-FNA) is a key diagnostic and staging tool for lung cancer, often used alongside endobronchial lung ultrasound (EBUS).
- Despite its utility, there is limited awareness within interventional pulmonology regarding potential complications associated with EUS-B-FNA.
