This study developed an e-learning program to enhance pharmacy technician training in non-sterile compounding, improving knowledge acquisition and satisfaction. The new online modules supplement existing training, standardizing essential skills for compounding unit pharmacy technicians.
Area of Science:
- Pharmacy Practice
- Educational Technology
- Pharmaceutical Compounding
Context:
- Current pharmacy technician training for non-sterile compounding in France is insufficient.
- High turnover rates increase the training burden on pharmacists and technicians.
- Existing training lacks comprehensive skill and knowledge acquisition.
Purpose:
- To develop and implement an e-learning training program for pharmacy technicians.
- To improve the effectiveness and efficiency of non-sterile compounding training.
- To standardize knowledge and strengthen practical skills.
Summary:
- An e-learning program was created using the ADDIE model and evaluated with Kirkpatrick's levels 1 and 2.
- Fifteen technicians piloted the 4-unit, 10-sequence online course.
- Post-training scores significantly improved (18.33/25) from pre-training (10.25/25), with high satisfaction.
Impact:
- The e-learning course provides standardized knowledge, enhancing practical training for pharmacy technicians.
- It offers a flexible and effective method for ongoing professional development.
- Future modules can be added to cover diverse topics, supporting continuous learning.
