Decoding morbidity patterns in ASHA workers of Vadodara, Gujarat - A cross-sectional study

Background:

• 32.52% of ASHA workers reported chronic illness, and 7.32% reported acute morbidity.
• Anemia (26.02%), diabetes (15.45%), and hypertension (14.63%) were prevalent chronic conditions. Obesity and overweight were observed in 11.38% and 21.95% respectively.

Conclusions:

• A notable 32% prevalence of chronic morbidity exists among ASHA workers.
• The findings underscore the necessity of addressing the health needs of the ASHA workforce.
• Ensuring the health of ASHA workers is critical as they serve as community role models.
