Is percutaneous sigmoidopexy a useful alternative to high surgical risk patients to treat sigmoid volvulus?

This article presents two cases of elderly patients with recurrent sigmoid volvulus and significant comorbidities, making them unsuitable for surgery. Instead, percutaneous sigmoidopexy assisted by colonoscopy was performed. The procedure involved percutaneous puncture and fixation using T-sutures and endoscopic clips. Both patients were discharged without complications and experienced no recurrence of volvulus six months post-procedure. The article highlights the need for further research to validate this method as an alternative to surgery for high-risk patients.
