Systolic blood pressure response during exercise testing in symptomatic severe aortic stenosis

Exercise testing is safe for severe symptomatic aortic stenosis patients. Cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) showed infrequent systolic blood pressure drops and improved post-surgery responses.

- Aortic valve replacement improves the SBP response to exercise, with no patients experiencing an SBP drop postoperatively.

Monitoring BP in both arms during the initial assessment is advisable, as the systolic value may differ by five to ten mm Hg between arms. For subsequent BP assessments, use the arm with the higher reading.
